What ThisPractice Does
Criminal defense is the focus of this practice, though not the whole of it — locating people, background and due diligence, surveillance, and records research are handled as well. Work is scoped with the client up front, and findings are reported accurately.
Based in Medford and working throughout Southern Oregon, including Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, and Douglas counties. Matters elsewhere in the state are considered.
Criminal Defense
Investigation
Investigative support for defense attorneys, public defense contractors, and the legal teams working with them. That means finding and interviewing the witnesses the state did not, pulling the records a file turns on, reading discovery in volume and turning it into a usable chronology, and noting what is missing — reports referenced but never produced, recordings logged but not provided.
Where injuries are at issue, I work the medical side of the case: reading the treatment records against the mechanism described in the police report, and flagging where the two do not line up.
Work product is written to be used — reports, timelines, and witness summaries in a form that can be produced at hearing, cited in a motion, or testified to. Where a matter needs expanded resources or a second investigator, it is coordinated with Brannen Investigations.
Locating
People
Finding people who are hard to find: witnesses who moved on, beneficiaries in a probate or heir search, parties to a matter, missing persons, and birth family or adoption searches.
Searches run from public records, property and court filings, employment and utility traces, and direct field work where the paper trail stops. Results come back with the basis for the identification stated, not just an address.
Background &
Due Diligence
Finding out who someone actually is before a client commits to them — pre-employment and tenant screening, caregiver checks, and verification of a person met online, where the question is whether the identity is real at all.
Reports separate what was verified from what could not be, and name the source for each. An honest gap is more useful than a confident guess.
Surveillance &
Field Work
Photo and video surveillance where a matter calls for it, including insurance and workers’ compensation claims, along with scene documentation and field canvassing.
Conducted from public vantage points and documented with times, locations, and a continuous record — so what the footage shows, and the gaps between, can both be accounted for.
Records &
Open Source
Retrieval and review of the records a matter depends on: Oregon court records, custody and jail records, driving and vehicle records, property and business filings, licensing, and medical records where a release permits.
Open-source and social media research where that is what the question needs. Records come back organized and indexed, with what is missing identified as clearly as what was obtained.
Documented as it happens.
